Curtis, Erin, and Gabe (AKA Red Heather, Green Heather, and Yellow Heather) revisit a VERY 80s high school classic with Erin’s pick, HEATHERS. “No, Heather, it’s Heather’s turn!” In this episode, we’ll take a lunchtime poll about which movies we thing should be adapted into musicals, we’ll talk about toxic masculinity and changing norms, and we’ll poke at the boundaries of satire and dark humor. Does the film perpetuate or skewer homophobic stereotypes? Does the slang hold up? And we’ll answer the age old question, “What’s your damage?” Plus, we’ll give the film our trademarked Gen X rating.

We also share our first encounters with computers before we dial into 1983’s WarGames. Pre-“Bueller” Matthew Broderick stars as a high school computer hacker who finds himself at the center of an International incident all because he wanted to order a WOPR online in a pre-DoorDash world. WarGames remains remarkably relevant in light of our current focus on AI, addressing enduring issues that continue to challenge us today. (And don’t take our word for it: Chat GPT wrote that last sentence, so it must be true!)
